Very simply put, buzzduit.com is a micro-blogging platform, much like several others that you likely use, or at least have heard of.
What makes buzzduit.com so different is that, instead of inundating you with a page full of posts so huge that you have no way to actually read them all, you will have a unique interface that allows the viewing of posts much easier.
Buzzduit.com is build on a “tabbed category” infrastructure. You will have the ability to easily place everybody that you subscribe to into one or more categories.
These categories will be represented by tabs on your home page. Each tab will have the category name and the number of new posts. If you want to see what’s going on with your friends, you click the “Friends” tab and that section will be shown with all of the posts on it. While in the “friends” tab, any posts that you create will go only to the people that you have placed in that category by default (although you can easily choose to post it to other categories as well, or to everybody). The tabbed interface will be build with jQuery, so that clicking from tab to tab will not require reloading the entire page. This will make for a much more user-friendly interface, by greatly reducing load times.
Another unique feature will be an enhanced search function that will allow you to further control to whom you send your messages. Let’s say, for instance, that you would like to let everyone in your area know about a get together that is happening near you. You can easily search your contacts for people via geo tagging or by using keywords (or both) and see all the people that match your search terms. You can then choose to post to all (or some) of them at once.
Seeing as social networking has gone further and further away from privacy, so as to encourage building huge contacts lists, we decided to go the opposite way. We do not believe that you have to sacrifice privacy to connect effectively with people and businesses. We have developed a way to get the best of both worlds – multiple profiles! Each category that you set up will have its own robust profile page. These profiles are customizable to allow your friends to see one profile while your networking contacts see a completely different one. We believe that most people want different people to see different sides of them. Personally, I would no more show up to work in club attire than I would show up to a friends party in a suit and tie. Why should my online image be less flexible? It shouldn’t.
